I created this for an exhibition celebrating sustainable flat bed Oyster Fishing in Fenit, Co. Kerry. Looking at the level of hard work involved was an eye opener when considering the delicate and refined final product served in a restaurant! In Fenit, there is a strong tradition of husbands and wives/ partners and family members working together in the bay through the depths of winter. I found this equally inspiring. Using acrylic paint and crushed oyster shells collected from the beaches, I created this piece to depict the push and pull of life and working in this amazing, sustainable industry.
